Shawls

I've joined a prayer shawl ministry at my church. I've made a couple of lap blankets so far, but I've decided to try my hand at actual shawls. These are both shawls I designed. What do you think? Should I make more? Which design do you like best? Any other ideas for designs I should try?

As a knitter who still hasn't mastered lace, Chris, let me be the first to tell you those are gorgeous!

Thanks, Sarah! Once I figured out the basics of filet crochet it was pretty easy. Maybe all my years of doing counted cross stitch!

You made these! Wow! I am so totally impressed. Love the designs, especially the red rose. And yes you should make more.

It's funny how things like knitting, cross stitch, crochet take your mind off so much stuff and really help you focus and relax. I used to cross stitch and loved it. The last cross stitch I did took me 7 years to finish. It's framed but I still haven't hung it up.

It's what I do when I'm not writing.

And PJ - get that cross-stitch hung up already!

Beautiful shawls. I liked them both.

I'm impressed with your designs. I'm amazed at how you can visualize something and then start the counting of stitches (is that the correct term?) to make the actual design.

Beautiful!

Vivian - between the visualizing and the counting comes the drawing the whole thing out on graph paper. And the erasing and trying again. And again. :)

And Ellen, I'm glad you like them.
